I recently heard about the controversy with Kim Kardashian and her Twitter page. It is now said that she’s posting tweets about companies and organizations to promote their products. Kim is said to make $10,000 per tweet that has to do with advertising and promoting the companies she has been involved with over the years. She can be seen in Carl’s Jr. commercials, and how convenient is it of her to tweet about craving a Carl’s Jr. salad. Do people honestly crave salads? Maybe they do, I’m just not a fan of them. Kim has 2.7 million followers on Twitter, and some of those fans are starting to wonder if they should trust her tweets. The one I find to be the most ridiculous is her tweet about a pair of Reebok tennis shoes. She recently tweeted, “Heading 2 the gym! Got my @Reebok EasyTones on! LOVE THESE! Go get ’em…” A link was also posted with this tweet to take you to the Reebok page to buy these shoes. Now that sounds a little strange if you ask me. She must be getting paid.
I am a fan of Kim Kardashian, but I find the whole situation ridiculous. A tweet can easily be made on the go any day, and requires no hard work what-so-ever. Wouldn’t it be nice to get paid $10,000 per tweet? I suppose it is good business for Carl’s Jr., Reebok, and any other company Kim and other celebrities tweet about. There are going to be many fans who trust everything that their favorite celebrities talk about, and this will lead to people clicking on the Reebok link to buy the same shoes that Kim Kardashian supposedly has. Even though there are those who are beginning to doubt the credibility of these celebrity tweets, there is no harm for these companies to try to promote their products through Twitter.
